The first facility of its kind in Northamptonshire!
Dura-Sport were appointed by Brigstock Cricket Club to construct a new twin lane practice facility at their picturesque ground in Northamptonshire.
Following consultation with the club, the original open ended design was upgraded to incorporate a fully enclosed and lockable cage structure. This design helps to prevent cricket balls from escaping and any unwanted clientele from entering.
The nets were installed in a challenging location on the far side of the field in terms of falls and levels. Equal to this challenge was our Contracts Manager, who after a couple of days had excavated out, graded and leveled the area to within ECB tolerances.
With materials imported and sockets excavated and set, the facility foundation was all completed within the first week.
An ECB Approved DSi-pro Vision pitch was then installed in each lane. The playing surface of this system incorporates spike resistant technology and, rather than traditional green, is uniquely manufactured using a loam coloured yarn to replicate the appearance of a natural turf wicket.
DS Grass was installed alongside and in between each pitch to replicate the natural grass surrounds of well prepared natural pitches. The product continues to 300mm outside the perimeter of the cage structure to provide a synthetic mowing margin around the facility.
All materials were secured using our enhanced vandal resistant fixing method.
The heavy duty cage design extends the full length of the facility, with a lockable DDA compliant entry and exit gate fabricated into the structure. A new upgraded heavy duty netting system was then fitted to the facility perimeter, including the full roof. An anti-vermin mesh skirt is installed along the bottom of the netting to protect it from wildlife.
Brigstock Cricket Club has the distinction of becoming the first in Northamptonshire to have a facility constructed incorporating these innovative pitches and products, and the club was quick to heap praise on the design, build and service.
