Dura Sport Leisure Care was called in by the school after they had failed an F.A test on ball roll, bounce and the quality of the surface, which was in poor condition. After an initial consultation a 3 stage plan was put in place.
Stage 1: Repairs to 44 seam and line failures across the surface. This included both stick down repairs where the seam had simply become un-bonded and replacement of damaged carpet and lines.
Stage 2: De-compaction of the rubber infill using our specialist machinery. This process lifts and loosens the infill which is then passed through our machine to remove dirt and debris from both the surface and from deeper in the pile. The cleaned rubber is then filtered back onto the pitch and groomed.
Stage 3: Topping up of the rubber infill levels. Once the de-compaction was completed we were able to take average infill levels across the pitch and calculate how much rubber crumb was required to bring the levels back to the acceptable level. This was critical in the pitch passing both the bounce and roll sections of the F.A testing.
The school now have a regular maintenance contract with Dura-Sport Leisure Care and, as a result have been placed back on the F.A's 3G pitch register.
"It was established in late 2018 that the 3G sports pitch at Kelvin Hall School in Hull had not had any proper maintenance done to it for approx 8 years. The pitch was looking extremely tired and worn with the bounce and roll of the ball being badly affected. A number of Sports teams competing in different Leagues use the pitch during the season so the state of the pitch was far from ideal. It was decided to talk to a number of companies to establish the best way forward to try and rejuvenate and save the existing pitch if possible. After having the pitch inspected and assessed by these companies it was decided to use Dura-Sport to get the pitch back up to competition level. The team from Dura-Sport have been amazing and explained each step that needs to take place in order to achieve to outcomes we were looking for. Today the pitch looks brand new and with the maintenance package by Dura-Sport this pitch will last for a long time yet. The cost was also very competitive with all the other companies , so we are very pleased with the service we have received and look forward to the ongoing assistance from Dura-Sport in the future.
