Dura-Sport were approached to provide advice to Wadebridge Cricket Club regarding the construction of a new practice facility.
A series of designs were discussed before a final specification was agreed to suit performance, lifespan, maintenance and budget.
With the surrounding area, levels and water table all taken into consideration, the facility was lifted slightly out of the ground and constructed on a plateau, with a drainage raft and soak away constructed underneath the facility and around the perimeter to aid with drainage.
The facility design itself features 2no. c.24.00m long practice pitches incorporating The ECB Approved DSi-pro Vision cricket system, surfaced with straw coloured DSi-weave cricket carpet to replicate the visual appearance of a well prepared natural grass wicket.
DS Evograss 3G grass was then installed around the pitches and within the additional run up area, again to replicate a natural grass run up.
A heavy duty cage structure was constructed to fully enclose the facility, including a lockable DDA compliant access gate. The cage was fitted with our DS HD 3mm thick dark green knotted netting to the backs, wings, intermediates and full roof.
Despite the wintery and wet conditions on site, the facility was completed on time and within budget in preparation for the 2018 cricket season.
