Dura-Sport were approached by Appleton Cricket Club to discuss refurbishment options for their existing triple lane practice facility. Originally constructed by Dura-Sport in 2006, the facility featured a batting and bowling design and an extended cage.
A new upgraded design was accepted by the club, updating the configuration to include modern full length ECB Approved match pitches, with natural looking synthetic grass alongside each pitch, spanning to outside the cage structure.
Whilst the internal boards were still in good condition after 20 years, they were removed to make way for the new full length pitches. The original foundation was still stable and consolidated. In addition to this, the steelwork required no work whatsoever.
With the foundation, edge detail and cage standing the test of time, the refurbishment project was undertaken at a fraction of the cost of having to start again. With some of the money saved, the club decided to extend the synthetic run up by 7.50m and add a back stop net behind the bowlers’, clad with white netting to act as a sightscreen.
We are proud that this facility has been able to be updated with the minimum of fuss due to its rigorous and detailed original construction. Dura-Sport offer realistic and extended warranties on facilities and have evidence such as the project at Appleton to support these.
“On behalf of the club, a huge thanks to Dura-Sport. Your support and guidance through the planning stages allowed us to arrive at a specification which best suited our club and we couldn't be happier with the end result. Your installation team have done a fantastic job, and were respectful of our ground and neighbours, leaving the area clean and tidy each night and upon completion. This will be transformative for our club and we can't wait to put it to use.”
