South West London
Dura-Sport were approached to provide help and advice to Spencer Cricket Club regarding the construction of a new practice facility to replace their existing 4 bay nets at their ground in South West London.
Several discussions took place regarding the project before a decision was made to construct a brand new six lane facility. The project was to incorporate 2no. triple lane practice facilities following a Dura-Sport design and using Dura-Sport materials in order to meet the clubs health & safety, performance, construction, system, lifespan, maintenance and performance requirements.
Firstly, the existing practice facilities, including the cages, netting, synthetics and existing foundations all had to lifted up and removed from site before the new six lane footprint could be defined, stripped out, excavated and removed from site.
The design features 6no. 32.00m long lanes incorporating The ECB Approved DSi-pro Vision cricket system, surfaced with straw coloured DSi-weave superior wilton woven playing surfaces in order to replicate the visual appearance of a well prepared grass wicket.
DS Evograss natural looking 3G synthetic grass was used to surface the remainder of the design footprint, again with the remit to replicate natural outfield grass. This included a “coaching pathway” between the two sets of three lanes to connect them together.
A bespoke cage structure was designed and erected, clad with our new heavy duty 4mm thick DS dark green knotted netting.
Also specified within the scheme were user control barriers to prevent any unauthorised use on each lane and to promote lane discipline. The barriers were embossed with the clubs and sponsors logos as requested.
The entire project was completed within the requested timescales and the facility fully meets or exceeds all ECB TS6 and ECB Code of Practice requirements.
