Dura-Sport were asked to provide advice to Halesowen Cricket Club regarding updating their existing practice facilities.
After discussing the available options at a site meeting a specification and design was agreed with the club to suit their requirements. The existing facility, foundation and palisade fencing was demolished in its entirety so the club could begin with a blank canvas. The new facility was rotated slightly to run in line with the natural turf wickets out on the square and set further back from the boundary. The new footprint was then set out and extended slightly in length and width in order to meet ECB Code of Practice requirements and the entire area excavated to 250mm.
A four bay facility was then set out and constructed, incorporating ECB Approved DSi-pro Vision cricket pitches to provide the performance and visual appearance of a well prepared natural grass wicket. The remaining areas were surfaced with DS Evograss to replicate the look and feel of natural grass run ups and surrounds around the pitches.
A heavy duty 22.00m long cage structure was also erected and was fitted with our DS HD dark green knotted netting.
The facility was then enclosed with a lockable 3.00m high heavy duty 868 perimeter fence, including a DDA compliant access point and power supply for bowling machines.
The project was completed on time and within budget and is the first facility in Worcestershire to incorporate The ECB Approved DSi-pro Vision cricket pitches.
